Today was by far the greatest day on the trail. We stopped for a day at the alcove spring and actually had good food. These foods were berries that we picked, a rabbit stew with potatoes and other vegetables that I hunted with a few other early birds this morning, and we even had an apple cobbler for desert! They were so amazing that we decided to say for a few extra days. This will be a very nice break for all of the animals because they had obviously been over worked ,and they got some rest under a amazingly pretty cherry tree. The animals and the others got our belly's full. The day also included games that we do not often get to do any more. I went horse back racing and played checkers with Wu ji wu, another part of our wagon train. With all of this fun we also had to do some chores like washing close, and making the wagons look spiffy. The next few days I went hunting for so pelts and got my groups wagon a bit more organized. I wish that we could stay here and just eat amazing food, play games, and hunt game
In the world tons of people have a lot of trouble because most of the water is salt water is 97.24% and people can not drink salt water. Then the fresh water divided- air is .001% of the water in earth water, fresh surface water is 0.01% of the earths water, all of the fresh ground water in world is 0.61%, and all of the fresh ice water is in the world is 2.14%. So there is only 2.761% of fresh water in the world. To me that has wowed me and shown me how lucky I am to live next to a great lake, and how bad I feel for the others who aren't as lucky as my class and I.
Reflection of Today's Skype This Skype with a Yellowstone was a very cool learning experience and there was tons of things to look out for on Oregon trail. The thing that I liked the most ( and scared of the most) is the acid pools that have acid in the water! The reason this happens is because of the gases mixing with the water causing the water to become acid! We definitively have to watch out for them. The hot springs also can have all different temperatures, and some are just like Hot tubs! The whole thing was very cool and awesome! Thank you Yellowstone park rangers! Notes
This whole thing is crazy . Our wagons are amazingly painted but I hope that when we reach Oregon our house is cool. The wagon thing is called a prairie scooner and it can carry a lot but I am very worried about the Ox, and how we dodge the wolves and bears. The whole thing is insane. We are bringing so many extra things, and I don't even know if we can fit in every thing. We have an extra 6 axles, a ton of weapons that include rifles, pistols, knifes, hatchets, gunpowder, lead, bullet molds, powder horns, bullet pouches, and holsters. We also only get 1 personal item and I wanted to bring so much! I don't even know if we will make it there or if it will be a breeze for us.
Reflections This skype was really cool with Richard Chapman and I learned so much about the Oregon trail and it told me about the animals in Yellowstone and on the trail. My favorite facts where about how the coyote has so much of a facial difference than the wolf. The major difference is the long snout and the long ears of the coyote and the small snout and ears of the wolf. The one very said thing is you might have to leave family behind on the Oregon Trail or see them get sick and die on the wagon. Thank you Mr. Chapman. Notes

James, My name is Kadlec, The reason that I'm going to Oregon is because of my fellow mountain men, and the hope of great trapping in the future and maybe buy a few acres of land to make money farming off the land. The whole thing is a great opportunity for me and my parents who are staying back in the east waiting for me to wright to them so that they can move hear too.
I've heard that other people have moved for other reasons though! I heard that some people are murderers, and bandits who want to make themselves free from the government. Some other people are moving because of there offal houses and apartments that are over crowded with people. I think that that would just be horrible to live in. The place that I come to you from is the Cezh Republic, where I was accused for a crime I did NOT commit. after this I came to England to make a better life, which I did. This life was very glum and was not enjoyable at all, so then I moved to America and found the east cost the same as England. Then I heard of the chance of riches and free farm land so I moved to Missouri and found my friends and await to go westward. |
