Writing Our Persuasive Essay that Opens the Debates

Directions:
  1. Learn about persuasive writing (a.k.a. opinion writing or argumentative writing) in class.
  2. Decide what your four strongest arguments are that support your energy source.
  3. Put them in order from strongest to weakest.
  4. Fill out the "paper organizer" by explaining each argument well enough to convince the judges that you are right.
  5. Finish the "paper organizer" by writing the Introduction paragraph and Conclusion paragraph according to the tips given in class.
  6. Make enough copies of it on the Xerox machine (for all working on this).
  7. Decide who will videotape themself presenting the Persuasive and the rest of you will type the organizer onto the Creately document.  (Rock, paper, scissors if you have to.)
Directions for Person Making the Video:
  1. One person needs to practice reading the Persuasive.
  2. One person needs to record themself presenting the persuasive on Photo Booth in the room next door.
  3. Drag the video from Photo Booth to your desktop.
  4. Upload the video to YouTube by signing in as me: [email protected].
Directions for People Transferring Written Organizer onto Creately.com:
  1. Sign in to Creately.com.
  2. One person needs to download the file below and save it to the desktop. "Import" the file into Creately.  Click on the green "Share" button.  Click on "Enable Edit Link."  Copy it.  Open a new tab and go to Bitly.com.  Paste the link in the box at the top to shorten it.  Copy the shortened link.  Tell your teammates what it is (it will start with bitly.com/).  Have them sign type in the URL, sign in to Creately when it asks them to, and click "Edit."
