I will use these notes as my lesson plan while doing Wonder as a read aloud with my classroom. I hope other teachers will use this guide as well!
(1) Project the Kindle version of the book so the kids can read along. I have Kindle for Mac. (see image below)
(2) Using the notes and highlighting, discuss each topic as we get to it in the book. (see image below)
(3) Take the moments where children are not treating Auggie nicely and create a GoAnimate! showing people how these kids should have treated Auggie.
(4) As characters are developed, complete Character Analysis blog entries (find that page on this website). Comments should focus on examples from the story that demonstrate a character trait.
(5) Family trees and other graphic organizers can be created to show important characters in the book.
(6) Use the book to teach the procedures and responsibilities of students while reading in groups over the rest of the year. Practice together.
