Questions

1. Where did all the water that you poured into your cup go?
2. How does this model simulate what really happens to groundwater in the world? (How does water get underground? Where is water stored underground?)
3. Based on this experiment, what can happen to a drop of water after it falls on the ground?
4. Do you think humans use groundwater? If so, what do we use groundwater for?
5. How do humans get groundwater to the surface?  Is this easy to do?
6. Do you think groundwater can move anywhere else? Where? How does it move?
7. How have your ideas about what happens to a drop of water changed since you started learning more about groundwater?

Answers

1. It went all of the way down to the "bed rock". But some of the water got stuck in the sand.
2. Water gets underground when it rains and it gets stuck there. It slowly trickles down and then goes back up when it evaporates.
3. The water can slowly fall down to the bedrock in the earth. When it hits bed rock it stops.
4. I do thin humans use ground water. They use this by using underground wells.
5. Humans get water through wells that the humans dig. This can be hard to do based on the way you do it.
6. I think that the ground water goes up in the clouds. The way it does this is evaporation.
7. My idea has not really changed about the ground water because I know about water from digging.
