The Quartering Act was when the Great Britain sent soldiers to North America to "protect" the colonists. The British forced the colonists to to provide them with something since the soldiers were protecting the colonists. The British Parliament mad a law that the colonists had to provide the soldiers with a place to live, fuel, food and transportation. |
The Boston Massacre was when the colonists started to get mad at the soldiers because they were forced to live with them even if the colonists didn't want the "protection". Name calling and fistfights were often on the streets of Boston, but eventually on March 5 some colonists started to through rocks and snowballs. The soldiers hurried to the guard's defense and loaded their muskets. The colonists kept "teasing" the soldiers. Captain Preston told the soldiers not to fire their guns, but one soldier heard someone say "Fire" the soldier shot and so did some others. Throughout the time five colonists were died or dying eventually six more were wounded |
After the British lost all of that tea from the Tea Party Parliament made multiple laws that were called the Coercive Acts. Many colonists got mad and said that they could not tolerate these harsh laws which they called the Intolerable Acts. Many people lost their job because of these harsh laws and some worried that the colonists would starve because of a law called the Boston Port Act. The Boston Port Act was a law that said that trade ships could not enter or leave the harbor until Boston paid for the lost tea. Some colonies were sending money, food and supplies to Boston. In return the First Continental Congress was held at the end of this congress angry delegates agreed to fight against the Intolerable Acts. |
