The tentacles so he can get alge A mouth to talk to his friends. A nose to breath under water. |
Do we have cells similar to the aliens you created? How or why not?
I believe that aliens and humans may have similar cells. This is because it takes cells to make organs and the aliens have eyes, ears, and a mouth just like I do. They would need cells to make this possible.
Humans (and probably aliens) have cells that have special functions. What are some of these cells and what organs and systems are they a part of? Give at least three examples and be specific. (Example: Osteoclasts are cells that make up spongy bone inside of many of our bones. This is part of the skeletal system.)
An example of a cell in humans and probably aliens is the immune cell. These cells have special functions and are part of the immune system. These cells are stored in the thymus, spleen, and bone marrow. These are called the lymphoid organs. Lymph nodes may store leukocytes as these are clumps of lymphoid tissue. An example is white blood cells or leukocytes. These cells work to fight infection and get rid of diseases.
Another type of cell in humans and probably aliens is red blood cells. These cells also have special functions and are part of the cardiovascular system. These cells are produced in the marrow of the bones and gather oxygen from our lungs to give to the rest of the body. While they are supplying oxygen to our body they pick up waste to bring back for us to get rid of. Red blood cells are pumped from the heart through our vessels to all parts of the body.
The last example of cells in humans and probably in aliens are the muscle cell. These cells make up the muscular system. They are in all types of muscles from smooth, to cardiac, and skeletal. The muscle cells are divided by which type of muscle they make up to determine what they do. Skeletal muscle cells make up the skeletal muscles which help the body to carry out voluntary movements. This would allow the alien and me to move and swim. The cardiac muscle cells make up the heart which pumps the blood to the body so that we can have the oxygen or other nutrients to survive. While I am not sure if my alien has blood he would need nutrients to survive and some sort of carrier for oxygen to survive on earth. Lastly are the smooth muscle cells which make up the tissues of the digestive system to allow our body to absorb and process food and eliminate waste.
