My thought is that wood be the one that goes down first or second . I think plastic will go down last because it does not look like heat can go threw it.
wood [ Was the last to melt.]
copper [ Was the first to melt .]
plastic [ Was the fourth to melt.]
brass [ Was the third to melt.]
aluminum [ Was the second to melt.]
1. Describe how the heat energy transferred from the hot plate to the butter. The heat travel threw the stick and to the butter and made it melt down . The thing is if butter did not go threw the stick there would be no way to get the butter to fall down the by melting it.
2. How did the results compare to your predictions. The wood will last the longest with the butter but it is a poor conductor because it did not let heat get threw the stick. Copper was the best to work because the butter melted fast. I thought that wood would be first and that plastic will be last and all the others would be in the middle.
3. Which of the tested materials were the two best conductors? What is your evidence? Copper and aluminum are the top two because they let the heat get to frozen butter before all the others. The butter was at the top and the copper and aluminum was going to melt in little time.
4. Which of the tested materials were the two worst conductors? What is your evidence?
5.Do you think water is a good or poor conductor? Why?
6.Why do you think it matters which material is a good or bad conductor? How do we use conductors in our life?
