Today we stopped in Alcove Springs. Some of the things that we did today were really fun! We got to swim in the clean water. We had a picnic lunch underneath the trees. We Normally have leftover breakfast but today we had berries that we picked, a rabbit stew with potatoes and other vegetables. Some of the chores that we did were we got to wash our clothes in the clean fresh water rested our animals and cleaned out our wagons. Doing the extra chores while we were in Alcove Springs was very important because washing clothes on the Oregon Trail was very hard because we didn't have clean water to wash them in. Resting our animals was also very important because if they are tired while we are on the trail then we wont be able to travel as far as we normally do. We stayed in Alcove Springs for a few extra days so we could swim more clean more of our clothes and have our animals be resting as much as they can.
ReflectionI was really surprised that the percentage of the earths salt water was 97.24 percent because when I was predicting I said that the percentages would be 40% and I was way off. I really liked doing this experiment today because it was really interesting to see all of this cool information. The real percentage of the earths fresh water is 2.761% I thought that his was crazy because I said the percentage of the fresh water in the world was 60% and I was way off on that one too.
Reflection My favorite part of this Skype was learning about the hot springs because I thought that it was really interesting I can't believe that some hot springs are really really hot like 200 degrees. If you sat in the hot spring you would die because it is more then a boiling water like when you are making mac and cheese or a type of soup. Reflection Q: What bodies of surface water did you find while examining the three maps? A: While we were examining the three maps I saw Lakes, Oceans, and Rivers. Q: Were there any types of surface water on the Arlington Heights map that you weren’t able to find on the Illinois map? If so, why? A: Q: Were there any types of surface water on the Illinois map that you couldn’t find on the United States map? If so, why? A: Q: What are some names of the bodies of water in Illinois and Arlington Heights? What bodies of water did you identify? A: Reflection Questions: I learned that you need to make sure that you don't bring to much the on the Oregon Trail. We plan to purchase tools food and other things we might need. Something that surprised me was that the prairie wagon beat the murphy wagon because off of the information I found the murphy wagon was better. The animals that are going to be pulling our wagons. The Oxen because we thought they were the strongest and the most likely to stay alive the longest.
Reflection I was really suprised when he said that the bears beat the wolves because he was like " What do you think is going to happen" but his voice was kind of like persuading me to think that the smaller animal would win. I thought that this was really cool and fun because learning about wolves and coyotes was really interesting.
All of these animals above are on the Oregon trail. These are some of the animals that you are gonna need to watch out for so they don' t get anyone sick or eat you food.
Reflection: during our second mystery Skype I learned a lot about the bald eagle, the deer, the elk, the badger, the rattle snake, the black bear, the bision, the gray wolf, and the coyote. I really liked learning about all of these animals because they are really fun to learn about. At first I thought this wasn't going to be fun to learn about but when Richard was explaining it, it started to get a lot more interesting.
Overall, I think that the Science Fair was a valuable experience because...
A: The science fair was a valuable experience for me because I got to learn a lot about my question a lot more. I also feel more comfortable talking in front of people and not being shy. I definitely made some mistakes along the way, but I learned from them. Here are some examples... A: Some of the mistakes I made during the science fair was I missed some of the important details when I was talking. I also forgot to ask them if they had any questions about my question a few times. If I were give the chance to do anything differently, A: If I had the chance to do something differently then I would try to be louder in front of the people and made sure they understood what I was talking about. I was at Pre-Teach during this lesson.
Ralph the Rain Drop Hi. I am Ralph the raindrop. I used to be in the sky floating in a cloud, but now I am on the ground. I have gone through this process so many times because it rains so much. So what happens is that I start in the sky and when it rains I fall to the ground and then I evaporate into the clouds again. It is kind of scary because most of the time I don't know what's going on, but I am a raindrop so what can I say. Every time I fall to the ground I feel like I get weaker, but I know I don't because hen ever I am in the sky I always seem to be stronger then I was before. So that's the cycle of my life!!!
