Breathing through Straws

We were breathing through straws for a science experiment!

The first experiment was definitively easier than the later ones, and the last was the hardest.

It was harder to breathe [through the wider straw] than in real life because we normally don't get such a little and narrow space to breathe.

Breathing through the thinner straw was harder because you got an even narrower area than the wider straw. After a short bit of breathing through the wide straw, I felt like I was going to pass out.

As you become more active, your lungs probably speed up to keep up with the tempo of your body.

Causes of the Revolutionary War 2

We sure spent a lot of time on this unit (it's not even done yet)! That's probably because it has to do with causes and effects. Sometimes, effects can have multiple causes, and vice versa. For example, the Revolutionary War had more than 10 causes, and the Tea Act, which also helped start the Revolutionary War, also caused the Boston Tea Party!

The Proclamation of 1763 was a law that England passed that made an imaginary boundary preventing the colonists from going into the Indians' land and restricted them to the East Coast. The Proclamation Line was that boundary, and it was on the Appalachian Mountains.

The quartering act was another law that made the colonists serve the soldiers that served in the colonies. The colonists were not happy when they had to share a home with people they didn't even know (or, more accurately, like).

The stamp act was yet another law that made the colonists pay a tax for printed items such as books. They made people pay those taxes by making people put these stamps on printed items, and make the colonists pay for the stamp, which was something they didn't even want. People knew if a colonist didn't pay the taxes if the printed items didn't have stamps.

The Boston Massacre was an event that was ignited when the colonists taunted the soldiers. A bunch of colonist protesters, called Patriots, were protesting because they didn't like the British troops put outside their city. The soldiers were put outside because of some taxation issues. Thomas Preston, who was the leader of the troops at boston, told the troops to get their guns ready. The colonists thought the troops were getting ready to fire at them, so the started throwing snowballs at the troops in retaliation. Then the troops actually started shooting at the colonists. Five men died. Eventually at the end of the Boston Massacre these troops were brought to justice. They had a letter M engraved into their fingers as (a very, very, silly one, but definitely not a painless one) punishment. That was the end of the Boston Massacre.

The Boston Tea Party started when they made a law that you had to get your tea from the East India company.

The Intolerable Acts were laws passed just to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. This is why they are called intolerable.
