Today in our Revolutionary War Simulation we were assigned a topic that happened in 1700's. I was assigned the Townshend Acts and when they were repealed.
The Townshend Acts were laws passed by Great Britain to have the colonists have to pay more money for items like tea, lead, paper, paint, and glass. They passed the act so the colonists could pay to make the governors and important people in Great Britain richer and they wanted to punish New York for failing to agree to the Quartering Act (this is a link to learn about the Quartering Act: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quartering_Acts)
The colonists hated this law and that was the cause of the Boston Massacre because the colonists were angry so the British sent in some troops to show the people of Great Britain's power. (Link to Boston Massacre: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Massacre)
