A few days ago we finished our Lit Circle books  for reading. I was reading Radio Fifth Grade by Gordan Korman. I recommend this book to anyone who likes hilarious books because it is really funny.
     Radio Fifth Grade is about a group of kids who run a radio show and a parrot is their mascot but he won't talk so they try to teach him to talk while dealing with the Venice Menace and Ms. Panagoupolus the professor.
    The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it doesn't have lots of descriptive words.

A few days ago in class we got to observe a half of an apple. We went on a website (link to website next) http://todaysmeet.com/applecore 

We went on this website to type down our observations, like how the apple felt or looked.
     We used a magnifying glass to look at all the detail and used ''tools" like a toothpick and a popsicle stick to probe the apple and observe it's insides.
    Some things that I noticed about the apple that I wouldn't have noticed before are that the apple seed indent is hard to poke a toothpick through because I have never tried it. Also, when I pushed a popsicle stick through stuff lke applesauce came out

    Today my brother and sister had to look up what the moon looked like tonight and I said "Go look outside" They said "but we can't SEE the moon" so they needed to go on the laptop on a website called "The Moon Tonight" so I found it for them.
Then after they wrote down what it looked like I got an idea to create a blog post about it. It is really cool because it shows ypou the position of the moon.

     Today's motivational poster (above) and our 21st century skills packet are helping us learn about how to be a more 21st century student are helping a lot.
The packet tells us how a 21st century student is good at "Working effectively in diverse teams" and "being curious about things you don't understand" It tells us why we should "be curious" and why we should be good at "working effectively in diverse teams" because "two brains are better than one".
    We got to make posters on a website and were assigned a skill. Then we researched it and found a quote with a picture. We combined them and they explain the skill.
If you want to make a poster and buy it you choose a word (skill) and find a quote for it. Then you find a picture representing the quote and go to the website (link to website below) and add the picture/quote. Then you can create it and buy it.

These skills are important to have because if you are a busy person you need to know how to get everywhere on time and always be organized. When you face a big problem like getting stranded somewhere with other people you need to be ok working together with them even if you don't know them.

I think that schools should not have extra school hours because it can affect how kids learn. An extra school hour could mean that kids get more stressed over homework and studying because they will not have as much time to finish it.

If you leave the school hours the same it will mean kids have more time to enjoy their free time.


If you add another school hour it could interfere with kids that play sports. They might have it right at 4:05 and will be stressed because they have to stay in school and won’t have as much time to finish homework.

They would have to choose and I think most kids would choose sports over school.


Some kids need or like to have free time off when they finish homework, but if there is an extra hour added on most kids would have dinner after they finish homework. Then they would be upset come younger kids have no time to play after dinner and have to go to bed.



Some kids might be stressed and not ready for the change of time. One day they have free time after they finish their homework/after school activities and then they have to stay until 4:05 and don’t know what to do.




So, I think it would be best if you left the school hours the same. It would still be the same and it would mean no interfering with extracurricular activities and have more free time. The kids would be happy because they are used to the time.

Today in our Election Simulation we got to find out what states were Democratic and what states were Republican. I was surprised to find out that Obama won by THAT much! (Obama had 332 votes and Romney had 206 votes) even though I wanted him to win.
The reason that Maine and Nebraska are purple is because they were split states. Not everyone voted for Obama in Maine and not everyone voted for Romney in Nebraska.
I thought that Romney would win over Florida because he needed the votes so he would try harder to  and if he got Florida he possibly could've turned the tides over into his favor.
