In class we got to do an experiment for our respiratory system paper. We tried to breath through different sized straws while doing various activities. Then we had to answer some questions about the experiment.
Question #1: Were some of the activities more difficult to do while breathing through the wide straw than others?
Answer: Doing the jumping jacks and breathing through the wide straw was harder than sitting down or walking. I needed more oxygen so I had to breathe faster.
Question #2: Why do you think that breathing through the wide straw caused the effects the you described?
Answer: I think it was because the wide straw had a bigger diameter and more air could travel through it. Even when I was more active I could still get enough oxygen in.
Question #3: Did breathing through the thin straw affect you differently than breathing through the wide straw?
Answer: It was harder to breathe through the thin straw because it had a smaller diameter. I had to take big breaths to get a small amount of air.
Question #4: How does your breathing change as you become more active? Why do these changes happen?
Answer: My breathing became faster as I moved more because as I moved my body needed more oxygen intake. At first I was restig and didn't need a lotof oxygen but soon I needed more becay
