I think that America won the Revolutionary War because I think that they wanted independence more then England wanted to have them stay loyal to King George III. I think that the wanting independence so much beats England. They probably had a lot of determination and were longing to get independence. England had so many things too. They had many more soldiers then America, they probably had more strength because they lived a better live and had more money and food then most of America, and they probably got more rest because they didn't have to get food and other requirements for their families. But, America had many other things including: more hope to win and if they won (which they did) they would be getting something at the end. England would not get anything new. They would just have America, which they had before the war.

When we pretended to have the war in class today, America won again. I was an American too, so I was very happy when we won the war. It was exciting for the Americans because we won the independence that we always wanted. If England had won the war, they wouldn't even have won anything! They would of had the same thing that they always had: America. We played tug-a-war to represent our Revolutionary War. The red team represented England because of the soldiers. America represented the blue team because of the U.S.A. The white team represented the French and the French helped America win the war. Although, there was one person on the white team who didn't help America and helped England. He was a German Hessian. He went to the England side and helped them. We almost never won independence. England was SO close to winning. They were not even two inches away. It felt terrible. Luckily, once France came to help us, we starting to get closer to winning. Before the "war" Mr. Solarz, pulled America over and told us that if we won we would get something just like America really did in the war. We would get a free chair pass (a day where you can sit in the swirly chair) and a free homework pass. Then, he puled me over privately and told met that I was a slave, so even if I won the war I wouldn't get anything. It felt really awful. I had to "risk my life" fighting for something that, even if I won, I wouldn't get anything. I couldn't imagine being a real slave and having that happen to me. I now know that America won because of all of the help they got from France and the preparing and fighting. I'm am so glad that America won the Revolutionary War!

Reflection:
1. Question: What was the most surprising thing you learned during the entire energy unit? Answer: I think the most surprising thing was learning about the light-bulbs and how you would think that one is brighter then the other when it really is way less bright.
2.Question: Why is energy important? Answer: I think that energy is important because it gives us light in our homes and other places and light gives us heat and without heat no humans will survive. It is also important because energy provides power and electricity to some things like stoves and ovens, which helps us cook things to eat.
3.Question: Where is energy found? Answer: Energy is found in many places. Some of them are in homes, buildings, the sun, people, food, plants, and animals.
4. Question: How would you define energy? Answer: I would define energy as power that makes things light up, work properly, and simply make people stay alive. Because, there is energy in the sun, and if we didn't have the sun we would die from no light and we would freeze.

Mine is definitely different then other peoples' because mine has a different project, and mine has many different materials then everyone elses. Mine is alike to other peoples because we all have around 12 steps and we all used regular everyday materials and turned it into an invention where something happens that you maybe don't want to do, and the invention does it for you.

I learned a lot of new information in my Passion Project. I learned mostly about horses, but I also learned many other things. I love passion time and think it is fun!!! I love thinking of new topics, making websites, and making screencasts! I learned how to make a Trello and a website on Weebly. I learned all about horses and what they do in their daily life. I also learned that not one single horse is exactly the same as another. They all have theor own special qualities.

When I went on the Historical Reenactment, I met many people. We had ten people that we were introduced too. We first met a man named Angus Mclain. He was a Captain of the local Militia. He showed us many different things that someone would need if they went hunting in 1775. Some of these things included he knives, guns, led, food, bags, and many other things.  Our second person that we met was named Joseph O'Phallon. He was a trapper, that trapped animals and sold their fur to others. He showed us beaver fur and how he trapped it. It was really cool! The third person we met was a couple with the names of Leon and Catherine DuBois. They were Colnial clothe makers. They showed us what kids in 1775 would wear in Illinois. They had a very nice and different display of clothing than we do today, and I thought that that was really cool. The fourth person we met was named Christine Maclean. She was an Innkeeper who provided food, a place to rest, and company for others and herself, once her husband died. She told us lots about working in an inn and she answered all of our questions. She was my favorite because I had a connection with her since I am an innkeeper from 1768 Boston. hThe fifth person we met was named Katherine Caird. She was a school mistress, which is a teacher. She taught us what the kids learned and the rewards and punishments were to the kids. It was very different from what school is like in 2013! The sixth person we met was named Peter Smith. He was a Frontiersman who would go out in the woods (when told) and during the day look for things to report to his boss. He talked to us about what it was like and the rules you had to follow. It seemed hard and fun. The seventh person we met was named Captain Ira Parke. He was a Surveyor, a person who checks out things and makes sure everything is under control. He surveys rivers, portages, and the land that they drained into. He talked to us about compasses and other things that you need to know about when you are a Surveyor. It was especially fun to learn about him because he was the person that I met before the reenactment. The eighth person we met was named Charles Walker. He was a Land Agent, and was charged with having the land surveyed and deeded, purchasing and selling land. He talked to us about his early life and what it was like being a Land Agent. The ninth person we met was named Molly Brandt. She was a Native American. She talked about the different things she had made out of natural resources and animals. She was very interesting to meet and I think that she was very cool. The tenth and final person we met was named Zebadiah. He was a Carpenter. He talked to us about how he made things. He layed out many things he made and we would raise our hands and asked him what they were. He was one of my favorites. 

            I had so much fun on this field trip and learned so much! I hope that you liked my blog and learned a little bit about some of these people. Bye!!!

Reflection: It think that this will definitely help me in the future because it helps me know that even though they are both light bulbs, they are almost completely different and so I can save electricity and money if I need to shop for light bulbs for my family. I was very surprised when I saw how much longer that the 25 Watt light bulb lasted then the 100 Watt. But I guess that it makes sense because the 100 Watt takes up way more light then the 25 Watt.

Reflection: I was really surprised when I saw how many hours the 24 Watt was than the 25 Watt. It was a lot more then I thought it would be. I learned that the Light Output for the 25 Watt was larger then the 24 Watt. I thought it was the other way around! :) But now I understand what I did wrong!

Reflection: I was surprised how much more Bulb Life the CFL has because the Incandescent because the Incandescent has only 750 hours and the CFL has 6,000 hours. I found it amazing how many lumens both of them had! A LOT!!!

I took a field trip with my class, from Boston 1768, to Illinois, 1775. While I was there, I met a man named, Captain Ira Parke. He told me all about his life. He was born in the Prussian providence of Brandenburg and there he received his early education. He was very kind and had a lot of funny characteristics. He made jokes about many different things. I know that he was very serious when it came to the French, Natives, and the British people. He feared that a civil war might be brewing back in the east, which would be disastrous for them. I learned many things. Some were life lessons but some were things about adventure. I learned that he once traveled up the Missouri to the Platte route to the Rocky Mountains. He was very eager and loved to explore. He told me a life lesson too. It was that you should always love to laugh, but sometimes you should hold it in. I told him that I worked at an inn as an innkeeper. He said that he goes to the same inn that I work at! What a coincidence! He said that recently, he had began to invest in land in this area. He also said he spends many enjoyable at my inn, and engaged in lively political discussions. I had so much fun meeting him and hope to see him again!

For me, Mystery Skype as been really cool! I think the easiest part about Mystery Skype is thinking up the questions. I think the hardest part about it is figuring out the county. I think that because usually there are a lot of counties. I think that the whole point of Mystery Skype is fun to be honest, but the most fun part (for me) is probably when our class or the other class figures out our state, city or town, and especially the school! It is really exciting! I think the only boring part is when we can't figure out anything and questions are just flying back and forth. My job is being a Questioner. What you do is you take questions from our Google doc (which is filled with questions that other students type in) and we ask them to the other class. But, we can also make up our own questions. We also answer the questions that the other school asks us. If I could give any advice to someone who would do a job like mine, I would say that you definitely need to be confident in yourself and you need to be loud. To be honest I would like to have this job forever! But I guess if I had to choose I would want to be a Data Enterer. It is where you enter the questions they ask us and the ones we ask them into a Google Spreadsheet. Mystery Skype ROCKS!!!!

Answer: We wanted the materials that we picked because we wanted really good insulators (Things that keep heat in them, or does not let heat escape) and we knew that towels, foam, and quilt could keep you warm, which is what insulators do, keep things warm.
#6 What are some materials that you didn't choose? Answer: We didn't use bubble wrap, polyester batting, glitter felt, plastic, wool, cotton, nylon, wax paper, aluminum, and fur.
#7 Why didn't you use them? Answer: We didn't use them because we thought that most of them would be bad insulators.
#8 Explain any blips on your graph (If you have them). Answer: We didn't have any blips. Our graph was a straight line.
#9 Is an insulator a good or poor conductor of heat energy? Answer: An insulator is a poor conductor because insulators and conductors are opposite and a poor insulator is a good conductor and a poor conductor is a good insulator.
