My name is Emma Innkeeper and I work as an innkeeper in 1768. I picked this job because it looked fun and I also wanted to learn how being an innkeeper in Boston, 1768 is different from being an innkeeper in Illinois in 2013. It was not very hard to find someone to let me be their apprentice. I did have to go to more then one person though because some people did not want an apprentice. I am living in my boss's home. It was very easy for me to find that place because my boss didn't argue about letting me stay in his house. Luckily for me, I didn't have to pay and the only things that I had to do were do my own chores, make my own food, and take care of the other people at my inn. My first day in Boston, 1768 as a 5th grader as been exciting. But it has also been scary. I have read about the wars and laws and a lot about Boston at this time. I am afraid that a war or a fight will start and I will be in it. I am excited to because I have never gone back in time and I want to see the alikes and differences of daily life in Boston, 1768 and in Illinois, 2013.
This is a slideshow I made of all different pictures of the inside and outside of a colonial inn.
An innkeeper is someone who basically runs a hotel. They do many things many things that are the same things that someone who runs a hotel in 2013 would do. Some of the other things no one in 2013 would ever do. Some of those things are: #1. Nobody who runs a hotel or motel serves breakfast in bed, usually. #2. Even if they did give you breakfast there would be a restaurant. Reasons that they are the same are that they let you spend the night if you have money. They also make you"re beds and some of the hotels and motels do you"re laundry. This image it shows an innkeeper, setting the table with many different meals. That is one of the responsibilities of being the innkeeper. The things that an innkeeper has to do are not as complicated as it would seem. They requirements are, letting the people spend the night if they pay, making their beds, doing their laundry, and giving them meals. http://ia-bednbreakfast-inns.com/colonial-room.jpg
