Making a podcast was a very different way to make a final product. I thought that creation of the podcast was very un-21st century, because we had guidelines and no collaboration was allowed. Even though it isn't very 21st century it was very fun to create. It was fairly easy to make, because I just had to talk. Please listen!!!!!
On Earth Day we went on a nature walk to get a feel for the nature that lives in our area. We also learned that all parts of the earth are important to our survival. I thought the walk taught me a lot about our planet and our very dangerous habits that destroy the earth. We took pictures with our ipads. Taking pictures was very important, because we can copy them and put them on our blog like I did. My pictures are shown above. Explore nature just like me. Go green!!!
Imagine how a grizzly bear uses water.
Grizzly bears use water to drink like any mammal or life form would. They also eat water in the food they eat like fish which they catch in water, because fish can't live without water. Grizzlies tend to stay by water, because that is where most of there other food is too. The other food may be berry plants that need water to grow and nuts that grow on trees that need water to survive. Grizzlies use water to stay clean too. They use the water they hunt in also to keep them clean. If the water has a strong current they just stand a they clean that way and if the water is still they swim around to clean. They sometimes may lick themselves, to keep clean, if a large enough body of water is not around. Grizzlies also play in the water. They play-fight, splash each other, and swim around in the water. They may also just mess around in the water. This is how Grizzlies use water. 1. Mammals use water to drink and stay hydrated.
2. Fish use water to breathe. 3. Plants use water to circulate nutrients. 4. Some animals live by water, because most of there food is in the water. 5. Birds use the water as a landing pad for flying. A hydraulic engineer is a civil engineer based only on water and sewage flow and transportation. These kinds of engineers make dams, bridges, channels, canals, and levees. They have to follow the rules of fluids. The equation p = pgy, is also known as,
ρ = density of water g = specific gravity y = depth of the body of liquid The main principles of hydraulic engineering is fluid mechanics, fluid flow, behavior of real fluids, hydrology, pipelines, open channel hydraulics, mechanics of sediment transport, physical modeling, hydraulic machines, and drainage hydraulics. Other things that hydraulic engineers create are water distribution networks, water collection networks, sewage collection networks, storm water management, and sediment transport. The hydraulic engineer can date all the way back to the roman aqueducts and the Nile Irrigation System of the ancient Egyptians. Hydraulic engineers have been an essential job since the beginning of time. |
