REFLECTIONToday we arrived in alcove spring. It was amazing! We spent some time playing in the water, doing chores, resting. for the next few days we will spend resting, catching up on chores and other thing that can't be done in the desert and only with water. For breakfast we had things like rabbits a deer and a pie ( which was tasty ). While we here we might as well enjoy ourselves so I pulled out a checkers board and told everyone how to play checkers ( the video is at the bottom of the page ). When we first arrived in alcove spring a very hard question popped up: why go to Oregon rather than staying here? This question throbbed inside of my head. At first I did not know the answer but then I realized: alcove spring is smaller than all of Oregon. But in the end the journey will pay off when we claim great farmland. although we will get tons of good land to farm in Oregon, on the ride there might be a few deaths Here is our Google Doc with all of our supplies. We bought everything we needed like: knives, prairie schooners, oxen, seeds, and our computers ( even though we hide them ) and a lot more. But even with that we had to keep in mind about spacing and weight and plus the fact that this wagon is being pulled by only two oxen. We also bought medical things like bandages. We also got things for defense like guns revolvers and knives. But we did not buy food or pelts because we can get them from animals on the oregon trail. I learned that pioneers brought all sorts of things with them including •knives •horses •oxen •shoes •piano's •pets •medicine •beds •harmonica's •toys •pans •pots •firewood •children •friends •food •and all types of other crazy things I was surprised at the fact that people brought things like piano's and other things and later dumped them out. And the fact that people would travel along the Oregon trail and collect items that others threw away and sold them to people who wanted it and would obviously throw it away. reflection
I was surprised when Richard said that if a bear fought wolves over food the bear would win. this surprised me because I thought a pack of wolves would win if they fought a bear. Something that did not surprise me was that birds will normally circle something that would mean either it was dead.

- The reason why people did this was in hopes of finding a better life. People moved west because of farming.
- Oregon was supposed to have mild weather and rich soil. Missionaries that had visited Oregon to bring Christianity to the Indians praised Oregon in letters they sent back east.
