Picture

K

I know there can be life on other planets.

W

I want to learn if there IS life on other planets.

H

I will search websites and find an answer.
Picture

L

I learned that there might be life on other planets by doing an equation.

A

I will make a blog post.

Q

I want to know where the supposedly aliens live.
Picture
Reflection
I learned that I needed to look farther than I expected to find life and also to make a equation to find the odds of life and extraterrestrial life. I found a very interesting site that gave me info about a planet 42 light years away that is a bit bigger than earth and could support liquid water.

Picture

K.

I know that all of the world of Hockey the game has changed in all areas, Like Goal tending, Defense, and Offense

W.

I want to know, How have various NHL stars revolutionized the Game of Hockey?

H

The Way I am going to do it is by creating a website with different types of game changes on it.
Picture

L.

I learned all about the hockey game changers and how it has changed . The game has been very changed by lots of players.

A.

I will take this knowledge and use it in my hockey game play. This could help a lot.

Q

My only question is how did these players learn that these plays would work?

Reflection

This whole project has helped me in my hockey play and the history of hockey. I have always been interested in the history of my sport and now I know even more. I am exited to see how others use this info but to all other fellow hockey players I hope they can use this the most. This was also very special to me because I am a hockey player so just doing this was fun for me but the other thing's I loved. What can I say I love hockey.

What adaptations allow an animal to be at the top of the food chain?        By: Drew

This is my Thinglink Image:

This is my Video:

K

- I know that some animals are at the top of the food chain because they are bigger than other animals, and they are fierce.
- I also know that Humans are the things at the top of the food chain.

L

- I learned that humans are at the top of the food chain because of there intelligence.
- I learned that hawks are at the top of the food chain because of there power and speed.
- I learned that big cats are at the top of the food chain because of how strong and powerful they are.
- etc.

W

- I want to know what else animals are at the top of the food chain for, and what they eat.
- I also want to know why humans are at the very top of the food chain, because we aren't as big as a bear, we don't have poison, and we aren't very fierce either!

A

- I will show other people the food chain that I made and all about the animals, and I will make a video on this information that I have gathered.

H

- I will find out by researching animals and what is at the top of the food chain, and then the next layer, and then the next, and so on and so on. Then I will show other people this food chain and teach people about it.

Q

- What other animals or living organisms are in the food chain?
- Why do some hawks still get eaten in some circumstances and they are still at the top of the food chain?
- How do people learn about what the food chain is and why?

This is my Trello Card

My Reflection: (Drew)

To me, this project was sooooo fun! I learned a lot about the food chain, what it is, what animals are in it, and all about the animals and the adaptations! For example; I learned why humans are at the top of the food chain, because humans have intelligence and technology to make weapons, such as guns, swords, and other tools. I also learned all about Big Cats, Anacondas, Hawks and Bears and why they are at the top of the food chain too! I really loved to learn about the food chain and make it instead of learn it by text-books and papers! So far, my favorite part about this activity is using Thinglink and searching all of the pictures and facts of the animals up. I love this project! Special Thanks: To the creators of Thinglink, Mr. Solarz for the help, and the Google Images. Here are the url's of the images:

How do different materials react to being soaked in vinegar for 0ne day? Sean and Sam K.

5/28/2014

Picture

K

  • Hat vinegar sometimes tears away at stuff.
  • We know that vinegar can make hard things like bones bendy.

W

  • What the vinegar does to all of the materials.
  • What the reaction is when you put vinegar in baking soda.

H

  • We will put the stuff in a cup then pour vinegar in it and let it sit for a day.
  • We will create a Google Doc presentation.
  • We will make a screen cast.
Picture

L

  • We learned that if you put stuff with calcium in vinegar in reacts to it.

A

  • We will create a Youtube video for others to see.

Q

  • What if we put food coloring in the vinegar with the stuff we are testing on?
  • What if we left the stuff we are testing on in the vinegar longer?

Sean's Reflection

This round of passion time was really fun and a really good way to end off passion time for the year. I learned that vinegar reacts with mainly things that have calcium in them rather than something like candy which doesn't have any calcium. I have always wanted to do something like this that involved some science but I never did so it was a new experience for me.

Sam's Reflection

This was an awesome project I did with Sean. And I learned a lot to. I learned that if you put stuff with calcium in vinegar it will have a reaction to it, but not like an explosion like baking soda and vinegar but like a bendy chicken bone or like bendy almonds.

W

  • I want to learn about Gabby Douglas.
  • I want to learn about Ally Raisman.
  • I want to learn the USA team leotards.
  • I want to know what all of the cool tricks are called.
  • I want to know when the first Olympic games was.

H

  • I will learn it by going on the internet.

  • Another question I have about my passion time is how many country's have at least one person in the Olympics?

Reflection

I really liked doing this Passion project because it was really fun and I learned a lot during it. I learned a lot about Gabby Douglas and all of the other competing people in the Olympics for the USA. I have been doing gymnastics for like y whole life and all of the girls that are in the Olympics have inspired  me so much to want to really work hard at things in life. During the summer Olympics I always want to watch it because of the people on the team because they are so good. I am really glad that I did this Passion time about Olympic gymnastics.

  • I learned that some penguins are huge and some are very, very small.

A

  • I will put all of the stuff I learned on a website and put pictures of penguins on there as well.

Q

  • Why don't penguins breed in places like the U.S or Canada?

My Reflection

I really enjoyed doing this project. I absolutely love penguins so I liked researching them for my last round of Passion Time. I think that I could of been a little more focused because I almost didn't finish in time but overall I think I did really good. My website turned out really nice and I think I found a lot of good information to include on my website. I'm glad I finished this project because I really didn't use my time wisely. I'm sad that this is my last round of Passion Time in 5th grade but I think that it was good final product.

L

  • People can play sports, even with barely any equipment.
  • Experts say that sports can help develop life skills.
  • There are many different sports played on the earth, and people play all of them.
  • A bunch of people watch sports on TV, listen to it on radio, to hear how the event is going.

A

  • I will create a website.
  • I will make videos.
  • I will make listen to what sports mean to them.

Q

  • How does one random kid in a very poor country somehow be an international sports player?
  • How do scouting systems work?
  • How do sports teams get all the money to fund the team and pay the players?

Reflection:

I really enjoyed this round because I liked sports and all about sports. It was cool to hear about what all different people thought about sports, and why people think that sports are good for you and your body. I learned a ton about why sports became popular and why people even play the sports they play. I mean, sports are there, but then people playing them and having some major impact on their life. So then that was why people play them and they are so popular in the 21st century. People like to play sports and watch sports, for the love and thrill of doing it.

K- What We Know

We know that the Olympics are major sports held every four years. We also know that they don't have Baseball and Lacrosse and we are mad about that because I really love Lacrosse and Charlie loves Baseball.

W- What We Want to Know

We want to know why they don't have Baseball And Lacrosse because there are awesome! Also how the sports have change over the years.

H- How Are We Going to Find Out

We are going to look in books and on websites. Also we will take other peoples opinions about what sports we should add.
Picture

L- What did we learn

We learned  a lot about the sports that have been around a long time and a short time.

A - What action will I take

We will ask people if they want baseball in the Olympics.

Q - What new questions do we still have

What sports will people want from the the whole world.

Charlie Sc's Reflection

I really liked this project.  I felt a little rushed because the Prezi didn't work so we had to switch to a blog.  I liked that we got to sport on the Olympics.  I learned a lot and I think I will enjoy the next Olympics even more.  I liked how we found a really good website to help us.  I thought that it was really good because it showed all the sports and gave details.  I also liked the baseball page.  I already knew a lot about baseball but I didn't know much about international play.

Charlotte's Reflection

I really liked this project! I was kinda stress out because Prezi really didn't work so we deiced to make a website but only had two days to do the website. I really like to make a website about sports I loved sports so it was a very good topic for me. We also had some confusion when Charlie thought foot ball was foot ball not soccer but it all worked out in the end and Charlie's Flexibly really helped with being able to get our website and blog post done.

My Reflection

I liked my project, because my mom talked me into doing the project and she was right, it was cool. I recently started grilling for my family, and it is fun. Getting your food, igniting the grill, putting on the food, taking it off, and walah a great tasting chicken, or asparagus. I really enjoyed this time.
