What Do I Know?

I know that Bulldogs don't live as long as other dog breeds.
I know that Bulldogs have a lot of health problems.

What Do I Want To Know?

Why don't Bulldogs live as long as other dog breeds?
What sicknesses can Bulldogs get?
Do those sicknesses have to do anything with the amount of their life span?

How Will I Find Out?

I will research online.
I will read books.
I will make a website explaining everything I learned.

What Have I Learned?

I learned that Bulldogs can't breathe very well because they have a lot of skin on their face.
I learned that Bulldogs need exercise to keep them healthy.
I learned that if they get to much exercise it makes it really hard to breathe.

What Action Will I Take?

I hope that people learned about all of the sicknesses/diseases that a Bulldog can get because if they were wanting to get a Bulldog they would know to be careful and to not over exercise them.

What Other Questions Do I Have

What causes them to have all of these sicknesses?
Why do they have so much extra skin on their face?

Reflection

I think overall I learned a lot from this round of passion time. I learned about all of the sicknesses that a bulldog can get. I also learned that bulldogs don't breathe very well. I think this can be pretty helpful because I really want a bulldog so now I know to be careful around them. I enjoyed making my website because I really do LOVE dogs so I loved learning about them and especially seeing pictures of them. I didn't like learning about the sicknesses because some of them were a little disturbing and gross. But the other part of me felt really bad for them. For this project I liked working alone because it's easier to do and I got to do my own website and my own video the way I wanted. I find that sometimes if I work with a partner we disagree or I don't like the other person's ideas. But overall I enjoyed my project.

Great job. I learned so much about bulldogs, I had no idea that they had that many health issues. I really liked how you created a video and a website. Your project was very creative and I learned a lot of things about bulldogs that I didn't know before. I am sure that this took a lot of time and effort to create the website for your project. I also like how you stated the things that you enjoyed about this project and the things that you didn't quite enjoy as much, in your reflection. It was an awesome project and I really enjoyed learning about the bulldog!

WOW! I didn't even know that bulldogs had a shorter life span than other breeds! It was very interesting to see how many deceases bulldogs are in danger of getting and it helped me understand how hard a life of a bull dog is. I hope they, and by they I mean doctors, find a cure to help bull dogs to get treated for those illnesses that they are not immune to getting. I also love love dogs, so this was very educational but sad at the same time.

For my Genius hour I didn't make a You tube video but I did show it a different way. I liked how you explained what you learned and at the same time you explained how to navigate through your website. I also enjoyed taking a look at your K,W,H,L,A and Q. It was a very nice blurb (summary) of your learning. You seemed very confident and passionate about this topic and it showed on your website, video, K W H L and Q and reflection.

I really enjoyed learning about bulldogs and why they don't live as long as other dog breeds. One of your questions you have now after your Genius Hour (What causes them to have extra skin?) was very interesting and I shows that you have critical thinking skills.

P.S. Nice touch on adding the photo gallery, they are so cute! ;D

Dear Annie,
I really enjoyed seeing your Passion time project. It was interesting to learn about Bulldogs because I love dogs too but it was sad to hear about how they die a lot. It was good to know theres is a way to help them. In our school instead of Passion Time we have Genius Time.

Thanks! To answer your question the skin is very thick and covers up the nose so it's harder for them to breathe.
