I will be pulling groups to do their Green Screen recordings while you work on the following activities:

Here are your directions for today (do them in order please):

1. Review your script on Google Docs for the Green Screen activity - make sure it is correct & makes sense to you.
   
2. Finish your preparation for the History Alive 11 panel debate - it will be tomorrow.
3. Finish your interactive notebook for all sections in History Alive (up to the Summary Section).
4. Create a T-Chart on a blog entry with at least three arguments that Patriots would use for independence and at least three arguments that Loyalists would use against independence (see below).
5. For your reflection, answer the following questions below your T-Chart:

            1. Which side is easier to debate: Patriot or Loyalist?  Why?
            2. You completed History Alive 10 on paper and History Alive 11 on computer. Which way made you LEARN
                more? Why?

Follow the directions in the following handout in order.  Try to be prepared by the end of the period.  We will do the panel debates next week.

Listen to the directions in class and go with your parent around the school taking pictures of the eight forms of energy that we studied in class:

• Elastic
• Motion
• Heat
• Chemical
• Gravitational
• Light
• Sound
• Electrical
• (Optional) Solar

Then, do the following steps:

1. Download your pictures onto a computer using a USB cord and iPhoto.
   
2. Download this file to the same computer.
3. Drag the photos from iPhoto into the Keynote slide and place them in the proper pie sections.  There should be 3 photos per section (ignore an extra photos, please).  If you only got 2 photos for a section, that is fine.
4. Save your Keynote slide regularly so you don't lose your work.
5. When you are finished, export your file using these steps:

Then, create a new blog entry with this image.
Finally, answer these reflection questions:

1. Which energy form was the easiest to find on your scavenger hunt?
2. Which energy form was the hardest to find on your scavenger hunt?
3. Describe how your group worked together.  What collaboration happened?  Were there any challenges?
   

We will be making videos like the one above in class over the next couple weeks.  You will sign up for topics & partners as I pull sticks, and you will need to work with your partner to create a script on a shared Google Doc where one of you plays a loyalist and one plays a patriot and you discuss a couple topics while "walking" along a street in Boston, in 1768. 

Before we start, I want to make sure that we understand two causes of the Revolutionary War: the Boston Tea Party and the Intolerable Acts.  We will do that by watching four videos from this series. (Their YouTube channel has changed and the videos are no longer separate - they are all one video. Sorry! Click on the image below to see this YouTube page.

Here are the directions for this activity:

1. Get your two topics you will discuss while walking (we will do this together as a class here).
2. Create one Google Doc that the two of you will share.  Share it with Mr. Solarz at [email protected].  Call it "Frieze - (Topic 1) / (Topic 2) - (Name 1) & (Name 2)" Example: "Frieze - French & Indian War / Boston Massacre - Paul & James"
3. Remind each other which of you is the loyalist and which is the patriot (based on the Google Spreadsheet).
4. Research each topic well using your History Alive book and packet, until you both consider yourselves experts.
5. Decide what a loyalist might think about each topic and what a patriot might think about it.
6. Discuss how the conversation might sound.  The topics need to be explained VERY WELL from one character to the other.  The patriot should also try to convince the loyalist to consider seeing it their way.  If the patriot is convincing, the loyalist should consider their point.
7. Type the script on the Google Doc, so it looks something like the picture below.  Here are the steps:

            1. Make each person's lines a different color.
            2. Start your script with a greeting, saying each others' names.
            3. Ask each other how their job is going & answer them appropriately.
            4. Start talking about one of your events, pretending that it is recent news!
            5. Between the two of you, explain everything important about that event.
            6. Share your opinions as patriots and loyalists.
            7. The patriot needs to POLITELY try to convince the loyalist that their opinion is the correct one.
            8. If the patriot's arguments are convincing, the loyalist should consider supporting declaring independence.
            9. Switch to the other topic and do steps 4-8 for that one!
            10. Wrap it up & say goodbye in a way that makes sense!

Once you think your script is the best you can make it, get it approved by Mr. Solarz.  If you have done a solid job, you will be allowed to do the next step: find images of buildings that might have been around in Boston in 1768.  We will use those images as the background of our movie.  When you find those images, submit them to me below:

• "Summarize and explain the major events that created tension between the colonists and Britain and eventually led to the Declaration of Independence" and
  
• Explain how the Revolutionary War had many causes

we will be creating a timeline that states that information.  We will follow that up with a blog post that explains what we learned from the whole experience.

Directions:

1. Go to the Google Spreadsheet and find out which event you have been assigned. 
   
2. Research your event carefully.
3. Type the date and a good summary of your event in the appropriate cells in the spreadsheet.
   
4. Find a picture and paste its link in the appropriate cell (and paste the same link in the credits cell).  A caption is optional this time.
5. Paste the "Custom HTML" below into a new blog entry and reflect on this activity by answering the following questions:

            - Summarize and explain how your event created tension between the colonists and Britain and eventually                   led to the Declaration of Independence
            - List five more events that eventually led to our country writing the Declaration of Independence.
              Write the list as a complete sentence.
