This is about what I learned from the human body research paper and all of the valuable information that I learned while doing our human body research papers. I learned so much that I had never known before this experience. It was a lot better too because we got to type it out so it was very easy to get it all down on the Google Doc. This taught me how to do expository writing a lot better and now I understand how all the systems work together as a team. This helped me to work more collaboratively and to ask help from others when I needed it. It also helped to improve my writing skill a lot because I know I wasn't the best writer then and I'm still not that good now but it still helped me improve.
Some of the things that I did to have fun and relax were playing games like tag. It is really fun to be able to play games and rest for a few days because we have been going almost non-stop since we left for the Oregon trail. Swimming is also another really fun thing to do because it feels good to cool down sometimes. I really love the food we have been having lately too because it's fresh fruit and rabbit stew that all the men hunted. We have to do a lot of chores that are very tiring but I know that they are important to do because we depend on them done for our own survival. The last thing that's really important to do is keep the animals well rested and make sure they are ready to keep moving on when we start moving again, because if they are tired, then we will have to stop again and that will waste time. There should be someone tending to them at all times making sure they have the energy they need to push forward. I will be very sad when we leave though because this is the most fun thing I have got to do this whole experience. Singing, dancing, playing games, telling stories, It's all something that we won't be able to do for awhile until our next stop so I'm just enjoying it while we have it right now. We have to be careful not to eat all of our food too, we have to make sure we will last until the next hunt or the next fort that we come across which shouldn't be that far away. Well, that's all for now, I'll keep you dated with the things we're doing,
During this activity I learned a lot about water. I was very surprised at how little fresh water there is in the world and how much salt water there is. My prediction for salt water was pretty close but I was off by a lot on the other forms. But now I know exactly how little fresh water we actually have on the whole Earth. I also never knew that ice would be the most out of ground, air, and surface.
During this Skype I learned a lot about some back round knowledge on the history of Yellowstone National Park. This experience was very valuable because It will help us a lot with our Oregon Trail simulation and It was fun learning all about the cool hot springs. I learned that a hot spring could get up to over 200 degrees! Another thing that I learned is that geysers can get up 400 degrees which is so hot you would pretty much melt!
The things that we bought while we were shopping at the Mercantile store were things to cook and what kind of wagon we chose. We chose the prairie schooner wagon and oxen to pull it. We are confident in our decisions but I am skeptical on whether or not some of the things we brought were entirely the right choice. I believe strongly in the food that we brought but I am not sure about the number of axles we brought because we could have just wasted a lot of money on it.
I learned so much about the Oregon Trail during this Skype that I had never known before. I learned that some of the most dangerous animals that we will encounter are Wolves and Coyotes. Another thing that I learned was that an eagle can take down a deer, which is crazy to me! Just think about it, an eagle which is pretty small, killing a deer which is as big as me just sounds really cool! I got so much notes down about everything that will be on the Oregon Trail that I had never known before. This experience was very valuable because It will help us a lot when we go on the Oregon Trail, and It was really fun learning all of these new things.
Science Fair Presentation - Improved Version
By the end of the Science Fair, my presentation was much better because:
It was much better because I had done it about 50 times in a row!
I started to add more on to what I originally was saying in the beginning.
I started to make more eye contact with the person/people that I was speaking to.
Overall, I think that the Science Fair was a valuable experience because...
I learned how to present a project. I also learned that it can be very boring standing up there for a long time but as I went on I got better at presenting it.
I definitely made some mistakes along the way, but I learned from them. Here are some examples...
At first I was not as good but towards the end I learned from the mistakes I made and it got better. My presentation got better as time went on and I also faced the audience more.
If I were give the chance to do anything differently, I would...
Get more brands so there is more of a variety to test and people can know if there is a brand that is better than the best brand I had in my experiment.
I think that we are moving west for many reasons and I will explain the reasons that I think. One of them are that the soil was very rich and a lot better than the rocky soil to the east. It was also a lot cheaper than the soil that was in the east. Another reason was that It was very hard to find good and well paying jobs, and just jobs in general in the east than in the west. Also a lot of bandits and outlaws were in the west because they could often escape their justice easier when they got there. It was often very overcrowded in the east cities too so it caused them to move to the west.
I think that others are heading to the west for the same reasons we are. Some people looking to find gold and become rich, while others go west for the perfect and rich soil and the very low cost to set up a farm there. There are also lots of job opportunity's that pay well compared to the east side of the states. I am Alfred Age and I am from Norway. I am very interested in going on the Oregon Trail because It is a new experience and I think there will be lots of challenges along the course of the trip.
