The gelatin's appearance DID change. About a minute after we started the gelatin with the enzyme powder was already seeping through the coffee filter. The enzyme powder was turning the gelatin to a liquidy substance and it was going through the filter.

The enzyme powder was breaking down the gelatin in cup 1 because the gelatin was becoming yellowish liquid. In cup 2 there was no change with the gelatin.

The cup with the enzyme allowed the gelatin's nutrients to reach the bloodstream because the enzyme dissolved the gelatin and the nutrients from the gelatin reached the bloodstream.

The food must be broken down into tiny parts so the nutrients and food can pass through the capillaries and go into the bloodstream.

Food would in fact be practically useless to our bodies if we couldn't digest it because we wouldn't be able to supply the nutrients needed to the cells because the food couldn't be digested and no nutrients would be extracted.
