The first arbor day was celebrated in April 10, 1872 in Nebraska. About 1 million trees were planted that day. Arbor day celebrates trees. People plant and care for trees on that day. Julius Sterling Morton invented arbor day. Because there were a lack of trees at the time that's when they started Arbor day. He was born on April 22, 1832. He died on April 27, 1902. Julius Sterling Morton's son was the founder of "Morton Salt".
