WE read this awesome book.
    The characters are Ryan, Sarah, Darrel Bonner, Ryan's mom and dad, etc.
    I loved the book because, their is very interesting events and details. I also liked the videos we could watch during our reading periods! Some of the videos were scary and some of them gave us very valuable information! I can not wait to read the rest of the books from the series! My favorite part of the Skeleton Creek book that I read was the scary but intertaining videos after every couple chapters. I also liked how Ryan and Sarah were emailing each other in secret. The email's they sent were very interesting!

Today Mr.Solarz split us 16 into 4 groups of 4. The people who were not reading were preparing for the second round before the final round.
     Me and my group read Searching For Tomorrow's Energy Source By: Melissa McDaniel. We all took some really good notes.
    Some of the oldest energy sources are Fuel Cells and Oil.
    Some of the newest energy sources are, Tidal (turbines) and Fueled Celled powered cars.
    My favorite thing that we read about was all the different energy sources I did not even know existed!

Today we looked inside, described, and inspected an apple. It was fun because we found out things we never knew about an apple before! I described a apple with details and facts. I saw that there was little specks of juice sparkling.  Some of the tools we got to pick at the apple with where like wooden chopsticks, paper clips, and a popcicle stick.              We had to go on todaysmeet and had to use the 5 scences per comment we did. We were not allowed to look at anyone elses comments until we where done with our own. For taste we couldn't taste it but we had to guess what it would taste like if we could taste it.

Today we 21st century motivational posters. I picked learn continuously because, I think it is very important to  always have a working, thinking, inspirational brain.
    I like this picture because, people everywhere can learn! I also picked this quote because, like it says, your minds can continue growing as long as we live. Even though I am only in fifth grade I have learned many many things this year.

Why should we use hydropower? There are lots of reasons! We can use hydropower because...

We can use hydropower for as long as time goes on. It relies on the water cycle, which means water doesn’t disappear like garbage. If the solar people say that solar is better because it relies on the sun, we can say ours does too because the water cycle relies on the sun.

Hydropower doesn't use any fuels like, fossil fuels, oil, gases, or burning waste. Hydropower uses no fuel at all period.Technically, water isn’t a “fuel” because you don’t burn water. It wouldn’t be possible!

Water is clean because it doesn’t pollute at all! You use it to spin a turbine, not to put icky, yucky pollution in the air! Hydropower doesn't blow a bunch of icky brown stuff in the sky that pollutes, unlike fossil fuels ☹ But hydro power keeps the Earth clean☺!!! and Wall-e doesn't have extra work to do with hydro power!

It is also cheap to use and saves you tons of money. (At least, once you build the hydropower plant!) It costs the least among other energy. (See chart at bottom of page!) And, public pools charge money, and a reservoir is technically a public pool! Hydropower is great because after you build a dam hydropower is free.

So, we should use hydropower for lots of reasons. But there are much more than the ones we explained! Like, hydropower can be used forever until the human race becomes extinct!

Here are some more: There is a lot of water so it can power more things and is the least expensive type of energy. Hydropower is the most significant renewable energy source. Hydropower is the only renewable energy source that is in some measure competitive with fossil fuels.Hydropower is clean renewable energy source that doesn't pollute environment.Hydropower's air emissions are insignificant because there are no fuels burned. Hydropower is a very efficient energy source because some turbines can achieve efficiency of 95 % and more. Hydropower's advantage over other renewable energy sources is the fact that average rainfall is highly predictable and therefore output is reliable and river flow doesn't change from minute to minute like is the case with wind energy. Hydropower is renewable energy source that doesn't cause global warming because it doesn't releases dangerous greenhouse gases. Hydropower doesn’t produce any air pollutants that cause acid rain and smog. Hydropower is the least expensive renewable energy source in the USA. Hydropower's primary use is to produce electricity. Hydropower rocks! Hydropower accounts for 70 % of produced electricity in northwestern United States. Hydropower can be used anywhere in the world where there's falling water. The places where there isn’t any water get hydro-created power from long-distance power lines. Hydropower doesn't smell bad like biomass and fossil fuels. Hydro power doesn't give the power company a $1,000,000 tax- you get a “1¢” tax!

So, there are lots of reasons we should choose hydropower. So, let’s make our country more awesome by using hydropower!

Today I recolored a map of the USA of all of the states that had the majority of Americans voted for which president.
    I think President Obama is a great president and Mitt Romney is a great governor. They both have good ideas but some of there ideas are bad for the environment or it includes raising taxes on Americans. 
        The health care law that President Obama passed makes the health insurance system work better for everyone. It stops insurance companies from arbitrarily capping and cancelling our coverage, and provides access to recommended preventive care without co-pays or deductibles. It strengthens Medicare for our seniors and it helps young people get the health insurance they need.

  How do leaves change their colors? 10/18/2012



      What makes leaves change their colors is the things inside them called pigments and chlorphyll. Every tree has different pigment's which makes them different colors.
    Some trees like evergreen's don't give off their pine's at all.
    A leaf turns brown because the color brown on a leaf is like the leaves waste!
