Today is Earth Day! We took a walk outside to look a little more closely at nature, and the world we live in.
    We should treat our earth with more respect. We can do that by carpooling or walking/biking to school.
    When I took the walk I also noticed many things about nature and the earth. On the trees I saw moss and learned that it only grows on the north side of the tree. I also noticed how buds were the same color of the leaf or flower they were growing to be.

    Birds use water in many ways, especially the red winged blackbird. Some categories below are ways that a red winged blackbird can use water.

Drinking and Eating:
-Red winged blackbird drink water.
-Worms are a good percentage amount of water.

Keeping Clean:
-Red winged blackbirds clean themselves in bird baths or water sources with water.

Playing:
-Red winged blackbird can play in water.

Other:
-Red winged blackbird can use water in many ways just like any living animal. Water is the key to survival, people use water very often too.

    Living things use water to do many things. For example, they use water to keep clean. When people use water to keep clean too. For example showering, or bathing. We also use water to stay hydrated, or feed ourselves. Many foods contain water in them, and also to make them. For example, you need water to make spegetti, also juices and other drinks contain water. People also use water to play. Do you remember going to the pool in the summer, or playing in the sprinkler?

    Great Britan ruled the 13 colonies. Every body that lived in the 13 colonies were subjects to Great Britan. Many people came to live and visit the 13 colonies. They saw it was unique, and bigger than other nations. There the land was cheap, and in Europe, only the rich people could afford land. That is why so any people came, they wanted to own land. In the colonies many people had land with farms on them to feed their families and themselves.

    When there is a captain and a crew on a ship the Captain usually treats the Crew very badly. For example, they whip crew members for things they did not do, or they punish them. In our class we have decieded, with a debate, that the Captain's should have limits to their power.
    If we have limits hten they should be that the captain can not use a whip. He shouldn't because they can hurt people

Sound: When I poured wate into another cup I heard waves being made. When they, crashed when they hit the water it sounded like rain falling into puddles. It sounded also like a waterfall falling from a low leaf, then it slowly dive into the water.

Taste: When I drank the water I tasted crisp, but smooth. It was room tempetured, and blew away the dryness of my mouth.

Smell: When I smelled the water I smelled like the beach. It had a slightly salty smell, but that is not what it tasted like.

Sight:
-Jostled: When I shook the cup lightly the water gently swayed back and forth elegantly rolling up the sides, coming back down. It stil kept the surface flat. The cup was wave-free.
-Poured: When I poured water into my cup it dented the water's surface, and created bubbles that quickly surfaced to the top and popped.

Touch: When I touched the water it fit like a glove. It let my hand right in. It was soothing with its coldness. It wrinkled my fingers if I left it in long enough.

Water Vapor to Water: The Water vapor smelled like fish, unlike water. It tasted like misted water. It looked like tiny rain drops that stays floating in the air. It felt like dipping my hand into pieces of water.

Ice to Water: The ice smelled exactly like water, salty. It tasted like fresh water, except solid. It looked like a sliver of rock hard clear glass. It felt smooth and wet. It sounded like shattering 

I am acting as a oceanographer. Oceanographer's study the ocean, the water in it, and the environment that surrounds it. Oceanographer's combine many other scientists' knowledge, and then the answer questions together. For example:

• "How can oceans help feed people?"
• "How do oceans help create storms, and other weather storms or processes?"
• "How can understanding the ocean help us understand global warming."
• "How can understanding the ocean help us understand global warming"
