Happy Arbor day in class today we found out how arbor day got started!!! The first Arbor Day was on April 10, 1872. Arbor day encourages people to plant trees. The man who created it was Julius Sterling Morton he was the one to create arbor day. He was born in Adams, Jefferson County, New York, April 22, 1832. Millions of people celebrate April 22 as Earth Day the week of earth day for the week we start it off with earth day and end it with Arbor day. but for more than 100's of years April 22 is the birthday of Julius Sterling Morton who first proposed Arbor Day as a tree-planting holiday in Nebraska in 1872.
Nebraska was mostly plains and practically treeless awards were given to those who planted the most trees on that first Arbor Day. More than 1 million trees were planted on the first day of Arbor Day.
