- The first planet discovered was Uranus in 1781 by an English astronomer
- Some small planets formed together to make one large planet
- There are more stars in space than there are grains of sand on Earth
- The inner planets are mostly made of rock, metal, and are smaller than the outer planets
- Outer planets are made of hydrogen, helium, and other gases
