J. Sterling Morton was the creator of arbor day. He was born in Adams, New York and was raised in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He went to the University of Michigan and got his diploma in 1854. After collage he married Caroline Joy French. They moved to Nebraska and soon Julius got into the political race. He became the Secretary of State and then became the Acting Governor of Nebraska. Soon after that Julius dropped out of the race and began studying agriculture in 1867-1882. Julius took part in the state board of agriculture and try to help the trees. The board decided to promote Julius' idea of making a day dedicated to trees. Prizes were given to counties who planted the most trees. More then a million trees were guessed to be planted in Nebraska on the first arbor day.

Today in school we took a nature walk for earth day. We saw a lot of plants and other stuff that the earth make. These are two pictures that I took. The first is of flowers which every body thinks is so pretty and that you should be good to the earth because of flowers but the thing on the right is grass and every body just doesn't think about saving grass. What I learned over the walk is that every one should be good to the earth. Not just plants we like every one from grass to trees.
A dog uses water in its every day life. It eats and drinks, keeps clean, plays, and other things. So lets talk about those categories in more detail. First, drinking you have to give your dog water to drink which is obvious but your dog might drink water in puddles or other stuff like that. You also might feed your dog stuff with water. for an example my dog is allergic to chicken, which I think is weird too, so we fed him rice for a while which takes water to make. We also give him bath to clean himself and he licks himself which uses water in his saliva. He likes water so in the summer we play with him with the hose and he plays on the beach when we take him to lakes.
Some ways that living things use water is for drinking. Without water you couldn't live we need water to survive.
Another thing living things use water for is cleaning. Every animal clean then self, humans take baths and showers, but lions lick them selves and go in lakes. A third thing that living things use water for is playing like squirt gun fights and other stuff to have fun. It doesn't help are every day life but we use water for it. One other ways living things use water is to cool off. Like if you are in the desert for a couple hours you would probably use water to cool down. One final way we use water is cooking. IN cooking you need water to make your food. Like rice you can't make it without water. Geologists jobs are to study the earth changing surface. They have to understand how water and ice brake down rock and carry it down stream. They look at rivers that form valleys. They also study glaciers, there job involves water because water is the main thing that shapes the earth. Water brakes rocks off mountains which shapes them and then the rocks that it takes away smash against other rocks and then breaks them down. Water is use in a geologists job in many other ways like they study glaciers and how they are created and why they are interesting landforms.
1.My life wouldn't exist without water because water (mostly) makes every other liquid. Like milk comes from cows and caws need water to survive just like foods they come from plants which need water.
2.Animals and plants life would be the same without water because they need water to live. Plants without water would become brown and other things because there dieing. Animals would die and we get most of our food from them the only other thing that we get food from is plants but without them having water they would die. 3.To have water in our lives we would need to keep green. We would need to not waste it because then it would get rid of our supply of it. Also we could take shorter showers and other stuff like that. 4.Water is a interesting because it never goes away. If you destroy it, it comes right back throw the water process. And you also can not create it. It was here when we were here and it always is here. 5.Scientists should study water because then we can learn more about it. We could also find other ways to fuel our body. And then we could learn stuff that could help our economy. If you are reading your project then use these tips.
1. You should read your passion project if it is words 2. You should involve picture to keep the crowd occupied 3. You should let the crowd actually get into your project by reading slower and ask them if they have any questions about there presentation 4. Look at the crowd to make them pay attention and give them a break to understand. 5. Don't read every thing so that the people will want to read it. 6. Read over your project so it doesn't sound choppy. If you are doing example like balls dropping and other experiments then use these tips. 1. Interact with every one by making them doing the experiment under your commands 2. It is good to let the audience think about it then tell them what happened If you are using a poster to explain your project then use these. I didn't have time going to updaate Sound: As I poured my water into my partners cup it sounded like the gurgle of a creek when it flows down stream
Looks: The clear smooth liquid slammed against my partners water as I poured it into his cup. The water made multiple slaps on the other cup's water making ripples in the water. When I pounded on the table the water moved from side to side creeping up the edges of the clear plastic cup. The water standed still when I left it on the table nothing happened. The line at the top ressled to make itself flat as I slammed it down when it crashed against the edges to the cup. Smell: The clean ocean sent filled my nose when a took a sniff of the cold clear liquid. Taste: The cold refreshing water filled my mouth. It tasted like a clean cold ocean. Feels: The cold lifeless water creeped up my fingers as I place my finger into the water. It felt like air with more gravity in it. It gave me a refreshing memory of a day at the beach. The water flew up my hand with coldness. Ice is different then water because it is solid and colder than normal water. Water vaper is a gas not liquid and ii is wet and dry at the same time. It is warmer than regular water and it ixcapes your hand faster than water. |
