1. How many heart beats did you think you would have in one year before extrapolating? Were you close or far off?

2. Explain what "Extrapolating" means to younger children.

3. What are some other things I can extrapolate?

1. Around 100,000 beats is how many heart beats in would get in a year.

2. If I had a graph and I extrapolated then I could tell where it would be in ten years. Another example is my work above, I started at 16 and then I extrapolated and got 5298048000 when I ended at what number of heartbeats I would have in a year.

3. You can extrapolate pay checks to see how much you would make in a month or year.

We walked through the cave wondering if I would ever escape. My brothers seemed fine but I could tell they were frightened too. I wonder why I ever agreed to go on this trip! We kept walking down the dark cavern and saw some bats. I kept going but Lukas lit a red flare to scare them away.
"Stupid bats!" He said as they fluttered away.
"How does anything grow down here?" Matthew questioned as we passed some trees and vines.

"I have no idea but I think it's..." I was about to finish but I stopped myself. The exit!

Reflection:

Was it more difficult to catch the ruler using one of the senses as compared to the other? Explain.
How could you use only the sense of smell to catch the ruler?
How could you use only the sense of taste to catch the ruler?
Explain how your senses, nerves, brain, and muscles in your fingers helped you to catch the ruler for one of the senses explored. Use pages 17-23 of your student reference book to help you.
How did your body respond when the ball of paper was thrown at you?
How would this reflex protect your eyes if the transparency had not been there?
Do you think the nervous system responded to catching the ruler and blinking in the same way? Why or why not? Were the senses used in both? Were muscles used in both? Did you have to think about both actions?

Yes because two out of three of them I couldn't see when he(My partner.) dropped the ruler and it seemed easier to see the ruler and catch it than get a signal before he dropped it.
If that person dropping the ruler released some sort of strong scent immediately before they dropped it.
If the person dropping the ruler put something with a very distinct taste in your mouth before immediately before they dropped the ruler.
My nerves told my brain to tell my hands to close when I felt/heard a certain command or touch.
I flinched and blinked at the same time.
I would have moved and blinked so my eyes didn't get hit.
No because me flinching/blinking was a natural reaction but I had to tell myself to catch the ruler. My muscles helped me to move in both activities.
