There were a couple things that surprised me about the world's statistics. For example, China has 20% of the world's population (60% in Asia), but Canada doesn't even have 1% of the world's population! Also, the whole continent of Australia, combined with Oceania, has 1% of the world's population. Also, I found it strange that there are more phones than people in this Earth. Maybe machines will take over some day.
I found it kind of upsetting that 10% of the world lives on less than $700 a year. Another 10% gets more than 2/7 of that per day. That's insane! Can't we learn to share? It takes about $5,000 per year to get basic needs, and 60% of the world isn't making half of that! I imagine it's less than 40% that actually gets these. I feel like each one of these is making me want to improve it. Money doesn't get bigger. The world's population does.
I also think it is insane that 17% of people are severely hungry. There are so many things that made me want to fix something in our world. Charities are not just excuses to get money. Look at the map below. The blue-green areas are least hungry, all the way down to the red ones, which are the most hungry.
