Questions

• Do people really struggle to find clean drinking water?
• What percentage of the Earth is salt water, and what percentage of the Earth is fresh water? What percentage of the Earth is air, ground, surface, and ice water.

Predictions

• Many people struggle to find clean water or water at all! In fact, 783 million people have no access to water at all, and 780 million people have no access to clean water. The water that isn't clean is really like no water at all because of the diseases it can bring.
• I think that 35% of the Earth is salt water, 65% is fresh water, air 35%, ground 15%, surface 35%, and ice 15%.
  

Notes

• The reason that so many people don't have access to water, is because so much of the water on Earth is not drinkable, because it is salt water.
• Earth has 97.24% salt water! That means we can only drink less then 3% of the water on Earth!
  
• 0.001 of the fresh water on Earth is in the air! That is not very much!
• The surface water(lakes, rivers,streams, puddles, etc.) is 0.01 of the water on Earth. Everyone would think that the Great Lakes are huge!
• All of the water that's in the ground is only 0.61% of the water on Earth! I definitely thought that there was more surface water then ground water! Even though it is way more then surface water, it isn't very much compared to salt water.
• All of the water that is ice is 2.14%! Out of all of them, I would think that the other ones would be much more then ice!

I was super surprised about what the percentages were for the water on Earth. My guesses were way off because I though that there would be more fresh water then salt water. It is kind of hard to believe that there is so much water in the world, yet more then 3/4 of it isn't drinkable. It is also sad, because of how many people need water. I thought that since the world is a lot of water, it was a little bit exaggerated on how many people don't have water. Now, I realize how true it is, and I feel awful about it.
