Surface Water Sand Wood Rocks Dirt | Prediction It will just be "absorbed" into the cup of water, or become part of the water. I think it will just make the sand darker, and wetter. I think the water will be absorbed into the wood, and make a dark spot where it was absorbed. I think the water will just drip on top of the rocks, and not really do anything. I think the water will make the dirt darker, and wet, and maybe make a little hole where the water hit it. | Actual It hit the water and almost bounced right out of the cup, the back in. It did make the sand darker, and made a crater type shape where the water drop hit it, and made the area where it hit the sand wet. Instead of being absorbed into the wood, it sat on top of the block of wood, and each time you dripped another drop of water on it, the water stuck together and made a big bead of water. It dripped on the rocks, and fell between the cracks in the rocks to the bottom of the cup. It did make the dirt darker, and kind of turned it into mud, but it didn't make a hole where the water hit it. | Reflection I thought this one was really cool, because instead of just dropping onto the water, it hit the water, then bounced up out of the cup, then bounced back in. I thought this was going to happen, because I've done it before at the beach. When you spill water on the sand, it makes it darker and makes a crater where the water dropped. I thought was kind of surprised at this, because I didn't think this was going to happen. I also thought it was cool that the water beaded up. I thought this one was not that interesting because nothing happened, and there wasn't too much to say in the video. I thought this outcome was cool because it made a mini mud puddle where the water hit it, and it made the dirt a lot darker. |
Drip's Big Drop
"It is time to go every one!" The minute those words were spoken, all the water droplets started to run around frantically. It was the normal life of a water droplet. They were all up in the clouds, and Drip, the droplet, was ready to fall. There was supposed to be rain that day, so they all needed to be ready to fall from the sky onto all the humans below. Almost all the droplets were used to this by now, but not Drip. It was his first time falling, and he didn't know how. All the other droplets had already done it at least once, but not Drip. He was a young water droplet. In fact, he was created just the other day. But now it was time to fall, and Drip was supposed to fall too.
"OK, in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" Drip was nervous, but he followed the crowd, and started to run to the edge of the mass of drops, that humans called a cloud. When he reached the edge, he jumped. It was unlike anything Drip had ever experienced (but of course, he hadn't experienced much yet). He could see the whole human land, spread out like a blanket below him. Directly under him, was a big patch of blue. An ocean! As he plopped into the mass of droplets (an ocean) he wondered how long it would take him to get back in the clouds. He sat in the lake for a while, waiting with all the other droplets, waiting to evaporate, like he was told would happen. Then one day, all the droplets started to shout, and they all seemed really excited. Drip asked a drop next to him what was going on, and she said that it was time to evaporate! He was about to ask what that was, but then he started to float up into the air. So this was evaporation! When water droplets floated back to the clouds! As he floated up, he saw a cloud above him.As hen landed on it, he thought about how he just did a cycle, and now he was one of the droplets who had fell!
