Today I got 4 pence from my boss for working so hard over the passed three weeks. It had been hard work. I stocked the shelves, cleaned everything;dusting, sweeping, mopping. It had been hard core1. I was expected to know what time to do everything, and fill in for my boss anytime he was gone. I can't believe I only got 4 pence for working so hard! Some of my other friends got 7 pence. Lucky them. Well, after I got my pence I was pretty excited. It was my first pay, and I realized that since we were in 1768, it was a pretty good deal. That was considered a pretty good amount of money. Anyway, I was walking through the street on my way home, a man in a red coat stopped me. Now these people are called a lot of things; soldiers, lobsterbacks, but I prefered to call them tax colecters. He told me that I had to pay the tax of wearing jewlery. I tried to explain to him that it wasn't jewlery, it was rubber bands, but he had no idea what I was talking about. He told me the tax was 2 pence, and I had to pay it, or I would go to jail. So of course I payed the tax, but I was furious! How dare he come over to me and just steal my money! I was no longer in the good mood that I was in earlier. Now I only had two pence! You could barely buy anything with two pence! From then on I knew I was a strong patriot.
