Watery Earth Lesson 5 - Learning About Groundwater.

Question

1. Where did all the water that you poured into your cup go?
2. How does this model simulate what really happens to groundwater in the world? (How does water get underground? Where is water stored underground?)
3. Based on this experiment, what can happen to a drop of water after it falls on the ground?
4. Do you think humans use groundwater? If so, what do we use groundwater for?
5. How do humans get groundwater to the surface?  Is this easy to do?
6. Do you think groundwater can move anywhere else? Where? How does it move?
7. How have your ideas about what happens to a drop of water changed since you started learning more about groundwater?

Answer

1.I think it went into the sand and the gravel.

2.I think after it rains it goes into the layers of the ground and is stored every where. I also think it represents it.

3. It could go into the ground but it won't get to the bedrock.

4. I think they do because the plants need ground water and we need plants.And we use wells to get water and that is ground water.

5. I think they use wells or they drill to it in the ground.

6. well it can move down and i think it can move left and right too.

7. At the beginning I thought it just evaporated when it went into the ground.
