- He showed us a wolf skull. From just eyeballing it it looked like that could easily tear apart a buffalo skin with it's razor sharp teeth.
- There are many mountains here that peak over 10,000 feet high.
- 17 rivers that cross the Oregon trail.
- They also have a grand canyon that is over 20 miles long.
- There is a lake that is over 10,000 feet high.
- You can put Rhode island and Delaware and you will still have space left over in Yellow stone.
- There are many tree's and thick forest that can be hard to truck threw.
- Large wagon trains could almost be called as a moving town because it would hold many animals and over 1,000 people.
- The wagons were as small as a car. They would have to keep the weight under 1 and a half ton.
- They would platy a game called buffalo chips and they would play that at night.
- They were black bears, brown bears, wolf, coyote, buffalo, and there were even mountain lions. So just think how hard these were to get by if you saw one by the trail or on the trail sleeping were you where going.
- They would travel threw living eco-systems.
- They would wear wool to keep them warm. It also would keep them warm when they are wet and it is raining.
- The trip is more than 2 thousand miles long.
- They animals along the trip will get in your way and even harass you.
- Think what you would do if you were walking around with sheep because all those predators would easily be able to kill your sheep.
- The coyotes stand less than 2 feet.
- A wolf is as big as a yard stick.
- That would definitely scare me if I saw a wolf.
- You are going to be followed by animals but they will probably steal your animals at night.
- You can look at the ears to find out what they are. Either a wolf or coyote.
- The coyote has the biggest ears.
- Even though the wolf can take down a bigger animal unlike a coyote witch is like half it's size.
- A wolf has a dish shape head and have really big heads compared to the size of the body.
- There body is more tight and strong and compact rather the being big and fat like his head.
- If we went from the wolfs head to hip to feet and back to head that would make a square. But if we did that to a coyote then it would be a rectangle.
- That would be another way to tell witch one is which.
- The coyote will lye on the ground and fake being hurt and then maybe the it can attack you or your dog. Then maybe you will give it food. They would have to be smart and clever like this because they were small and could not kill to much stuff.
- I guess that they trails would be big enough and beat down enough so that the wagons could pass and so that the wagon would not hit the tree's.
- Wyoming contains more than the Oregon trail than any other state.
- There are even like land marks like broken rocks or signs that are land made.
- There where holes in the ground that was almost 2 feet deep from the wagons.
- They coyotes had back teeth like use. They also had K-9 teeth.
- The teeth of the coyotes could take of all the meet on a chicken wing.
- A wolf pack could have as many as 24 wolves in a pack.
- If you see animals above you circling that means that they are going to dive down and eat it.
- The coyotes grow winter coats that keep them warm in the winter.
- When a coyote is attacking a sheep then a wolf will probably beat the coyote to it and either run it off or kill it before it can get the sheep.
- If it was 2 bears against 24 wolves the bears would probably win.
- A wolf eats about 6,882 pounds of meat in 2 years.
- We should have thought about getting toilet paper.
- Larger wagons require larger animals.
- Probably better to bring several wagons
- Need to shot elk and deer to get food
- Flour can get bugs in it.
- For every action there is always an equal action to go with it.
- Would they put the sick people in the wagon with the food and would it be contaminated.
- Did more people die from Indians or by unsanitary conditions. SECOND 1!
- Some signs there are still in tact.
- The wagons would make a dark path of crumbled dirt.
- They would use cow chips to start a fire.
- The wagons on the sides where very easy to kill because they would keep the sheep cows and stuff like that just wide in the open. So this made is that they had a hard time to protect the animals on the sides of there herd of wagons.
- it was important to stay healthy.
- Badger meat tastes gammy.
- Badgers are related to skunks.
- Coyotes have stuff on there back called guard hair.
- Badgers live by themselves
- Big dogs have bigger chest than wolves.
- Do any of the animals carry sicknesses? Well YES!!!!
- One time a pack had 24 wolves but they all got sick from other animals.
- Animals on the trail where or biggest worry lets just see.
- If a badger is cornered it will definitively attack you.
- One time there was a mountain lion in a mans backyard.
- An eagle can take down a dear.
Reflection: After the second Skype I learned even more about the trail. I thought that the wagons trailed alone. But it turns out that the stayed in big packs of wagons. Also they would run into mosquito that would be as big as humming birds. They way they would defend against these things were by using buffalo fat. Sometimes there would be animals charging. You want to tell me what the do. Well they will shot them right away. But the most interesting thing was that people would kill badgers on the trail. I did think this but I was still surprised because I didn't think they had to much meat and didn't have enough to be worth killing. So that was pretty interesting. But overall this man told me so many interesting facts that I had almost three pages of Google docs pages of notes. So if I could again I would thank him for talking to me and hope I could do it again. 2 Skype!!!!!!
