1. I don't know why America won the Revolutionary War because America had so few people. America also had guns that was so hard to aim, it took a long time to load, and it was hard to clean the gun.
2. I would have though that the British would have won because the had ten times the troops, they had better guns, and the guns could aim better. The British also had trained troops where as America had untrained troops. 3. I think that the Americans won the war because the cheated. They cheated by going to the bushes and when a British soldier comes by, then they shoot him and nobody knows what happened to that soldier. Maybe the Americans took the British soldiers one by one. 1. It was very hard to use the same technique when I was doing the clothespin activity. That is because my muscles got tired after repeating the same thing over and over again.
2. Before the experiment, my hands were feeling fine and as good as new. When I was doing the experiment, my hands were getting tired and my muscles were burning. After the experiment, my muscles were killing me and I was out of breath. 3. There is a pattern to my data table. The pattern is that I start out strong, and then I get lower, and then I go up again, and I go back down. 4.My partners graph is almost the same as mine, except his is farther up and down than mine. It is like this because he got a lot, and then he got a little, and so on. 5. Some errors that could have happened while doing the experiment that messed up my data was if I miscounted a little, and if I didn't hold my hand the same way the whole time. I know that I accidentally held my hand the wrong way when I was doing the experiment. 6. My hand strength changed over the time of the experiment because the muscles got tired when I was working them out. 7. I think that my muscles get oxygen and water from my heart pumping blood to my hands. I think that there are blood cells that carry the oxygen and my heart pumps that to my hand and the rest of my body. 8. Something that I could have done to prevent my muscles from tiring is taking a break in between the rounds. I also could have drank some water. 9. If I ever experience muscle fatigue I will stop what ever I would be doing and take a break.
1. The activity that increased my heart rate the most was Sprinting in place.
2. The activity that increased my heart rate the least was lying down. 3. The order that I thought would happen was wrong, but only by one question. I thought that sitting down would increase my heart rate the least, but actually, lying down did. 4. The changes that I saw when I was more active was that my heart rate got higher. ( The number got bigger with the beats per minute.) 5. I think that my heart rate got faster because when I run, my heart has to work harder to pump the blood to my body. This is me and Charlies Model of a working elbow! Reflection: This experiment was very fun for me, and I think for Charlie too! We had a lot of fun, and it was really tricky at points. One of the hardest parts were figuring out what we had to do to make the elbow pull both ways! I really liked the model at the end of the project! For me, this was one of my favorite experiments!
1. I choose the Jaw. 2. I choose the jaw because you have to eat and drink and breath to survive. 3. The things that would be hard is drinking, and breathing. You can't eat without your jaw being able to move. 4. Some examples: Blinking your eyes, twitching your ears, closing your eyes, and moving your eyebrows.
Reflection:
1. Yes, we have cells similar to the alien that I created. Some of the cells are: The trunk of the alien is the mouth of the human body. The flippers on the alien are like our feet that help us walk and move. The eyes that take sun in stands for our eyes on our body. 2. Some of the special functions that is on my alien is the cell that helps it digest food. Another one is some special teeth that help them chew the food. The last one is the two eyes that take in the sunlight and turn it into food. This is very helpful for this alien. 1. What three basic things do our bodies need in order survive?
Food, Energy, and water. 2. If we exert ourselves, what are three (or more) signs that our bodies are in distress? Your heart beats fast so that you can breath faster when your running/exercising. You need the air when your running. Your muscles get sore because it tells our body when you are pushing yourself hard and to go faster. You get dizzy because it tells your body when to stop doing what you are doing. You sweat so that you get cooler when you are hot. It does this by making the sweat do evaperative cooling, so you don't faint or get to hot. 3. What can we do to make these signs go away? First, you can drink cool water to make your body temperature go down. Second, you can stop doing what your doing and take a break. Third, you can take an inhaler to help with your breathing. The outside of the apple is very smooth and cool. On the inside, it is somewhat rough and wet. It is also moldy and brown in the middle. The middle of the apple is a hole for the seeds. It is cherry red on the outside. There are lots of tiny wight/ light red dots in the flesh of the apple. The color gets lighter closer to where the stem would be. The outside of the apple is somewhat hard, and the inside is mushy and the color varies along the apple. There are some wight hairs along the middle in the inside of the apple to. It smells sweet and like fresh green leaves. It makes a small bubbling sound when poked or mushed.
Reflection: 1. I think that I was able to observe the apple closely today because we tried to look closely at the apple and normally we don't. 2. Observation is very important to science because you have to know more about something to learn about it and how the item works. 3. Sight, Touch, Smell, Sound, 1. The hardest part of this activity was trying to think of where all of the human body parts go. We think that we put most of the things in the wrong place :) Here are some of them.
2. These are the body parts that I think that we put in the right places: Brain, Pancreas, Bladder, Eyes, Esophagus, Heart, Lungs, Skin, and the Stomach. 3.These are some of the body parts that I think that we got wrong: Gallbladder, Trachea, Pharynx, Larynx, Diaphragm, Large intestine, Small intestine, Kidneys, Liver, and the Spleen. I chose to research the Louisiana Purchase. I chose to research the Louisiana Purchase because I wanted to learn about how much money it sold for and who sold it. The Louisiana Purchase is important today because if we hadn't purchased Louisiana then France would have still owned it. I was absent. You told me not to do this.
Leaves change there colors in the fall because the maple trees, oak trees, birch trees, and poplar trees, all have thin leaves that aren't so tough. The reason why the evergreen tree leaves don't fall of every winter is because they have a waxy coating to protect the leaves from freezing in the winter. This whole process is just because of some special chemicals.
Green: The leaves stay green through Summer and Spring because of the chemical, chlorophyll. Red: The leaves turn red because of the chemical, anthocyanins. Orange: The leaves turn orange because of the chemical, xanthophyll. Yellow: The leaves turn yellow because of the chemical, carotene. Brown: The leaves turn brown because they are the waste products trapped in the leaves. Pine Leaves: The pine leaves are different then the other leaves. They don't fall off at all. They don't fall off because they have a waxy coating that keeps them from freezing. 1. I have loved Mystery Skyping so far. It was very hard to guess the other classes location today because we had a challenge. A challenge is when Mr. Solarz says that you can't ask a specific question.
2. The easy part is thinking of the questions to put on the Google docs. We can go onto the Google Maps. That helps us a lot. 3. The fun part is taking the pictures and uploading them to Weebly.(My job is the cameraman.) 4. There is no boring parts about Mystery Skyping. 5. My job is the cameraman. All I do is take pictures and then I upload them. 6. I would like to be a questioners assistent because I get to help the questioners. I was absent. You told me not to do this.
Comparing Light Bulbs with Differences in Wattage
Prediction: I hadn't thought that the Incandescent Light Bulb would have life for 2550 hours! That is a lot of hours because some of the hours you wouldn't even have the light bulb on! Comparing Different Types of Light Bulbs With Similar Wattage
I can't believe that the CFL 24 Watt Bulb had 6000 Bulb Life. That is so amazing. Comparing Different Light Bulbs with Different Lumens
1. What was your maximum temperature (use your Data Chart, not the picture)? 2. What was your minimum temperature (use your Data Chart, not the picture)? 3. What is your range? If you had any penalties or gifts, include those in your total. 4. What materials did you use in your insulated bottle (type them in order from your first layer, second layer, and third layer.)? 5. Why did you choose the materials that you did? 6. What are some materials that you didn't choose? 7. Why didn't you choose them? 8. Explain any blips on your graph (if you have them). Why did it do that? 9. Is an insulator a good or a poor conductor of heat energy? Answers
1. My maximum temperature was 94.8 degrees. 2. My minimum temperature was 90.1 degrees. 3. I had a range of 4.7 degrees and I had a penalty of 1 percent. 4. I used a quilt and 2 pieces of wool. 5. I choose those materials because they felt very warm. 6. I didn't use felt and polyester batting. 7. I didn't choose them because they were very thin. 8. I don't have any blips on my graph. 9. An insulator is a very good conducter of heat energy. I have some facts about all of the animals below on my slide show. If you want to ask questions, you can leave them in the comments. I will get back to them as soon as possible. You can also request some things that I should make in the comments. I will leave a link to the place that I found these facts below. (To the Link) Thank you! Bamboo Wood: I predict that the butter will slide 2nd. Plastic: I predict that the butter will slide 4th. Aluminum: I predict that the butter will slide 3rd. Copper: I predict that the butter will slide first. Brass: I predict that the butter will slide last. The best conductor will be super hot and the worst conductor will be the same temperature as it was before. A conductor is something that lets heat go through it. A poor conductor is heat that does not go through the object. We are seeing how long it would take to 1: The heat energy went up the poles and then it melted the butter which made it slide down.
2: The results of the experiment were not what I had expected. I only got 1 prediction right. 3: The two best conductors were copper and aluminum. My evidence is that they slide down first. ( look at the graph.) 4: The two worst conductors were plastic and wood. My evidence is my graph. 5: I think that water is a good conductor because the heat can flow through the water. Such as if you drop something electrical into the water, you would get electrocuted. 6: We use conductors with electricity and with heat. (Such as fire, and lightning.) Electricity transfers into heat energy and we use it to turn on devices, such as air conditioners and lights.
1. The water compared because there was warm water and cold water and my graph shows that slowly the heat comes together.
2. Over time, the cold water got warmer because the room temperature is warmer than the bucket temperature. 3. Over time, the warm water got colder because the room temperature is colder than the bucket temperature. 4. My graph showed how the room temperature made the cold bucket get warmer and the warm water get colder. 5. After 15 minutes, the lines on my graph went farther in to the middle of the graph. The kept getting closer and closer. 6. The cold water was in a warmer environment, so it got warmer. 7. The warm water was in a colder environment then the water so it got colder than it was. 8. After 20 minutes, the lines on my graph would probably touch each other. This experiment was so fun! 9. The food coloring did help me understand how heat energy was transferred by getting the water to be warmer. ( it showed what was warm water.) 2. My Google docs script shows Mr. Solarz that I know about the two events leading up to the Revolutionary War because I made my script talking about my two events. I also studied them in social studies. This shows that I know about them.
3. My Google docs describes that I know what a patriot and a loyalist is. A loyalist is a person that does not care for freedom. They want to be ruled by the king. They want there to be a king ruling over everyone. A patriot is a person that want there freedom. |
